What is an ad limina pilgrimage?
An ad limina visit is required of all bishops every five years. According to Canon Law, the bishops pilgrimage to Rome and give an account of their diocese to the Holy Father. Additionally, they are to venerate the remains of St. Peter as an acknowledgement of their apostolic succession and the remains of St. Paul as a sign of their call to evangelization.

Itinerary
Day 1: Monday, May 3 - Depart for Italy
Depart on overnight flights from Chicago/Detroit to Rome, Italy.
Day 2: Tuesday, May 4 - Assisi
Arrive in Rome and meet your professional, Italian tour manager, then board your private motor coach and transfer to Assisi, the City of Peace. Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and see the famous Portziuncola where the Franciscan order began. Welcome dinner tonight and overnight in Assisi.
Day 3: Wednesday, May 5 - Assisi
Celebrate Mass this morning at the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. Enjoy guided visits of St. Francis and the Church of St. Clare to see the cross that spoke to St. Francis and led him to a life of piety. Then, visit the tomb of St. Carlo Acutis to learn about the sanctified life of this millennial. Dinner on your own to try the specialties of the region including olive oil, truffles, Norcia sausage and cheeses.
Day 4: Thursday, May 6 - Rome | St. Paul Outside the Walls
Depart for the Eternal City of Rome. Upon arrival, take a guided tour of St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, followed by a celebration of the Holy Mass. After hotel check-in, enjoy a leisurely walking tour with your tour manager to see the historic center, including the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona.
Day 5: Friday, May 7 - St. Peter's Basilica | Vatican Museums
This morning, celebrate Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, followed by a guided tour. Take in the beauty and majesty of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo's magnificent fresco of the Last Judgment.
Day 6: Saturday, May 8 - Castel Gandolfo | Castel Gandolfo | Borgo Laudato Si'
Enjoy a relaxed and scenic escape from Rome to the charming hilltop town of Castel Gandolfo, overlooking the sparkling waters of Lake Albano. Celebrate Mass in the town square before touring Borgo Laudato Si’. The beauty of the Pontifical Villas’ Gardens has become the natural setting for the development of a place, open to all people of goodwill, to be trained in integral ecology. Enjoy a traditional Umbrian lunch as a group. Return to Rome for a free evening.
Day 7: Sunday, May 9 - Mother's Day | St. Mary Major Basilica | Angelus | Catacombs
This morning, celebrate a Mass dedicated to all Mothers at the Basilica of St. Mary Major. Then, pray the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square with the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, followed by a group lunch. In the afternoon, visit the catacombs, the resting place of the early Christians.
Day 8: Monday, May 10 - St. John Lateran | Ancient Rome | Farewell Dinner
This morning celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Then, take a tour of Ancient Rome, including the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. This evening, celebrate the conclusion of your pilgrimage with a festive farewell dinner.
Day 9: Tuesday, May 11: Return to USA
Check out of the hotel and depart for the airport for your return flight home.

Deposit: $500 per person due upon registration
Second Deposit: $1,250 additional due on or before December 4, 2026
Final Payment: Balance due on or before February 4, 2027
Please note late payments will incur a $50 late fee.
All cancellations must be received in writing. Payments are non-refundable and subject to CTS Terms and Conditions, including the CTS Liability Release. CTS reserves the right to cancel any reservation if payments are not made according to the payment schedule. A $25 fee will be added to any reinstated reservation.
